This design was inspired by Myanmar’s International Women’s Day protests in 2021, when women raised their sarongs (htamein) as a sign of defiance against military dictatorship and patriarchal norms.

International Women’s Day in Myanmar, 2021.
Protests were happening daily during this time as civilians went on strike and demonstrated against the military’s attempted coup.
