Our Longyi, Our Flag, Our Victory! Design by Kue Cool. This design was inspired by Myanmar’s International Women’s Day protests in 2021, when women raised their sarongs (htamein) as a sign of defiance against military dictatorship and patriarchal norms. This ornament is designed as homage to the traditional Burmese toy, the “Pyit Taing Htaung.” The Pyit Taing Htaung is a traditional rolling doll that rights itself whenever it is tossed.
